Kids’ Fishing Derby

The annual Kids’ Fishing Derby is one of our favorite events each year.

Held during Panorama Days each year, the derby is a very popular event amongst local anglers, young and old.

This event is made possible by donations from local businesses and individuals, as well as through our annual fundraising banquet. There are lots of ways you can help support the great activities and events Fin and Feather organizes each year.

Fun Fishing

Lake Panorama Kids Fishing Derby
This young lady caught a nice bass off the rocky jetty. She was a little afraid to hold it up, but still a great catch!

This is a great opportunity for kids to get hooked on fishing!

The lighthouse jetty which shelters the marina on the lake is normally off-limits, but for the derby we open up the gate, and kids get to fish up and down the jetty.

This location has the potential to produce both good numbers and good size of a variety of different fish species, including:

  • Bass
  • Walleye
  • Bluegill/Sunfish
  • Crappie
  • Catfish
  • Carp

Look at these happy category winners!

Fin and Feather volunteers help the kids measure and keep track of their catches.

When the dust settles, it’s time to hand out door prizes and category awards.

Nobody goes home empty handed, and there are prizes awarded in multiple age groups for categories like:
